Choosing a wetsuit for pacific conditions

by mausoldj on September 12th, 2009
I'd like to ask for a favor on an issue I'm having. Today, I did not finish the Pacific Grove Triathlon due to hypothermia. I wore a 3mm wetsuit and blueseventy cap and I'm 22 years old, 6ft. 3in., 156lbs, and 9% body fat. The water temperature was 57 degrees. This was the first time swimming in a triathlon in the Pacific.

Wetsuit has become too loose (possibly....)

I have had a 2xu V:1 for a year or so. Great suit which fitted me really well.

Wetsuit or Not?

by fawcettenator on July 9th, 2009
So I am doing a sprint triathlon this weekend, but I am wondering whether or not I should where a wetsuit. I have a new Orca Equip wetsuit that I have worn in a few races. I have a tri suit made by speedo, it has a sharkskin outside "pattern" to it, so it is supposed to "Glide" through the water. The water is fairly warm, so I wouldn't be cold. Tired is a state of mind, exhaustion is a state of body.

Wetsuit too tight -- can't breathe on race day!

by ericolaf on June 15th, 2009
I bought an Orca Sonar wetsuit some time ago, and have raced 3 sprint tri's with it. Each time, the suit has been so tight as to make me feel like I couldn't get enough air.

Swimming in Maine this summer-wetsuit needed?

by mccnc on June 9th, 2009
Hello all, I'm going to be leaving my home and heading up to Maine this summer to attend an artist residency program. I will be training over the summer for a few tris in the DC area when I return.

Brand of wetsuit

by prendergi on May 4th, 2009
I will be buying a wetsuit this month and our local bike shop sells wetsuits (along with other tri gear) but they only have Zoot. I have some Zoot things and over all I like their products but considering a wetsuit can be pricey - I'm thinking if I am going to put out that money why limit my options to just one choice. Wetsuit advice

by Socket on April 29th, 2009
So I had a bit of an issue at my first race of the season this past Sunday: my wetsuit was tight to the point of severely constricting my breathing. I used it last year and had a similar issue the first time I wore it, but it seemed to stretch out and I could breathe normally after that.

Question about the Oceanside Half Ironman Swim

by lhogben on March 14th, 2009
Hi, On April 4th I'll be racing in the Oceanside Half Ironman in San Diego CA. I've heard that the ocean temperature can be cold, around 59 or so degrees. The only wetsuit I own is a ultrajohn (sleveless full suit) which I believe is recommended for water temp in the mid sixties. Has anyone done this race in the past in this type of wetsuit?

HIM Gear Question: Swim-to-Bike Transition

by Workerant47 on February 28th, 2009
I'm prepping for a HIM and I'm wondering what do most wear under their wetsuit? Do you wear a swim brief? Basically, gear-wise, what do do you use and then what and how do you transition from that to the bike leg?

looking for a good store to buy a wetsuit in the Boston area

by gdb209 on February 10th, 2009
I am looking for places that sell wetsuits in and around Boston MA. After my first post about looking for a wetsuit, I was told to go to stores and try some on. I have purchased gear from Quadmultisport in Arlington, and Belmont Wheelworks. What are other good places to try on and potentially purchase a wetsuit?
