Interesting training result - looking for thoughts
by cjhoffmn on December 11th, 2008
I've done most of my bike training indoors on my trainer over the last year. (yeah, it's not nearly as nice as riding outdoors, but better for family reasons to be in the house than not...).
Ironman France - How much time for training
by notforgoogle on December 4th, 2008
Hi all,
I am reasonably fit and workout regularly - I have always wanted to complete an Ironman and to date have only done the Olympic distance Triathlon which I really enjoyed...Theres an Ironman in France in June so was just wondering if 6 months would be enough time to train for the Ironman...I know this depends on the individual but a rough guide would be useful,

College, substance abuse, and how I can keep training.
by Amish on November 18th, 2008
Well I feel kind of awkward posting this topic because I'm not sure if it will be well received by the community, but do you have any strategies on how to deal with college culture to keep training?
Off Season Intervention (Part 1): Fitness is in your Muscles, Not the Cardiovascular System!

We have bad news and good news for you. The bad news is that once you finish this article, you are going to want to cancel that winter schedule of base building, aerobic mileage-oriented, zone 1-2 training. The good news is that by the time you finish reading, you’ll be ready to set up your best triathlon season yet!
Recovery time after an Ironman
by AABCB on November 16th, 2008
I recently completed my first IM, Florida (Nov 1). All of my training was done in heart rate 1 or 2. During the race, my heart rate stayed very low, never getting out of zone 2. Within three days of the race, my sore muscles were nearly recovered. I did not suffer any injuries during training or the race that I know of. I want to start running again but am unsure of how long I should rest.
Another HRM Question
by orangedog on November 12th, 2008
I've seen some threads recently on HRMs and whatnot, but wanted to check with the knowledge-base on this forum before picking up a new one.
My wife's HRM was destroyed - neither of my dogs have fessed up but one of them did it. So, I'm looking to get her a new one for her birthday.

Winter IM training, will I go crazy doing my training indoors?
by triNick on November 5th, 2008
I'm looking at IMSA 2009. I live in MN and I probably won't have any chance to do any rides outside this winter, especially the long ones. If I'm lucky I might get one ride in at the end of March, probably during taper time. Swimming should be ok but it will be boring inside the whole time. Running should be ok if we don't have a cold and snowy winter.

36-Week Training plan Limitations
by sasquatch on November 5th, 2008
I am looking at using the 36 week training plan for IMC. For those of you with experience using it, or those who have chosen not to use: What are the problems with this plan, i.e. what are it's primary limitations or assumptions?
I have a few small tweeks I will be making, but I'm interested in what others have found. I looked at the opentri site, but am looking more for critiques.
