Cold Weather Riding

by davidmi24 on September 1st, 2009
I live in Southern NY state (aka the tri-state area), and the winter temperature is between 30 - 35 degrees, with snowfall averages varying from heavy to light each year. This will be my first winter of riding, and since I do not own a trainer, and hate spinning, I'm going to attempt to go out as much as humanly possible. by davidmi24 on July 17th, 2009
For those (male or female) who shave/nair/wax their legs, what is the easiest, most enduring way to remove the hair? Thanks. -DL The only thing I believe in is the power of the human will

Bibs vs. Shorts

by davidmi24 on July 6th, 2009
Does anyone know if wearing a bib gives you a decided advantage over cycling shorts, or is it merely a comfort issue? Thanks. The only thing I believe in is the power of the human will

Ridin' in the rain

by davidmi24 on May 28th, 2009
Does anyone ever ride in the rain? I'm not referring to a complete downpour, but a significant 2 - 3hour ride in on/off showers. I ask ONLY because I'd like to know if the water will damage my road bicycle in any way. Thanks everyone. The only thing I believe in is the power of the human will

Rolling Pins

by davidmi24 on May 15th, 2009
This is essentially an add-on to the Reducing Recovery Time topic. Does anyone feel that you benefit from using rolling pins on your legs directly after your workout? If so, could this replace ice-baths? The only thing I believe in is the power of the human will

Pure Oxygen Rush

by davidmi24 on May 7th, 2009
Has anyone ever tried this, or have an opinion to it's possible benefits (drawbacks)? http://www.oxygen4energy.com/sports-special.html?gclid=CIu83pX-qpoCFQOuF... I imagine myself being doubled-over and wheezing after a sprint or serious tempo run, and getting an instant boost from the pure oxygen being sent to my lungs. Then, I'm up and away like Superman, lol! Thanks everyone The only thing I believe in is the power of the human will

Hill Training

by davidmi24 on May 4th, 2009
How important is it to train on hills as opposed to flats? My OLY course is almost entirely flat, but wouldn't extensive hill training improve my strength and stamina, giving me an edge? Thanks again. -DL The only thing I believe in is the power of the human will

Hydration/Supplementation during workouts

by davidmi24 on May 4th, 2009
I've always hydrated with gatorade during my workouts, but as my workouts are becoming more intense, I am considering switching to a drink with a bit more kick. Does anyone have any recommendations for a THIN-consistency recovery drink which will provide SIGNIFICANTLY more aid that Gatorade? Thank you. -DL The only thing I believe in is the power of the human will
