Pull Buoy problem - spinning

by andrei_gh on April 28th, 2009
Hi, I bought a pull buoy and tried it this morning but I was actually unable to use it. When I use the pull buoy, after I start crawling with my hands a couple of times, the body (actually the legs) rotates too much and it almost has the tendency to come in a backstroke position! Well, maybe I exagerate a bit, but that's the feeling.

Can't flutter kick....

by stuff273 on April 10th, 2009
Well, I've been swimming for about a year now and I'm not too bad at it, except for not being able to kick hard and fast. I can do a 50 in about 27sec., but that's without being able to kick fast, my arms do all the work. I've been looking online and asking my coach about the problem and everyone is telling me the same advice: hips up, butt out of water, and legs straight.

Approach to Swim Training?

by DannoE on March 25th, 2009
Question for the good swimmers out there: How hard do you work your intervals? Do you do mostly Target Heart Rate work, or do you do distance interval work for speed? DannoE "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one..."

70 F water, should I be wearing a wet suit?

by 00gauge on February 5th, 2009
I am doing a sprint event this Sunday and the reported water temperature is 70F. Since it's only a 400 meter swim I believe I can rip thru that in about 5 minutes. So the question is, should I be wearing a wetsuit?

Awkward Pull Buoy

by danpatgal on August 8th, 2008
I tried a pull buoy for the first time this morning for a couple laps, and it was a bit more awkward than I thought it would be. I had heard the pull buoy makes it "easy" to have proper body position, and therefore easier to swim. So, my question is this: I am 6'4" and thin (165lbs and only 3% body fat or something gruesome), so when I used the buoy, it didn't seem to keep my legs up at all ...
