Last night I got to the gym and warmed up, did some ab work and upper body prior to Mike's spin class. I like Mike's class, becuase he likes hill work. I proceed to jump in the pool, becuase I felt great. Swam 1600 yards and decided to call it a night. I went to climb out and fell back, because my calf cramp. (Really bad) I couldn't move and kept my head above the water.

So.

My eight year old just joined the swim team last week, she hasn't had any swim lessons and I swear I've never really even worked with her on form. How many triathletes would love to have this freestyle stroke? Yep, totally proud swimmer mama here... Blue Skies, -Robin- http://ironmom.blogspot.com/

I get quite dizzy after my swim and am wondering if I should try earplugs. Has anyone else had this problem? It affects both my bike and run afterwards. Water stays in my ears and feels like it's 'rattling around' until after I finish. Any advice?

Like many - for some reason, I'm challenged when it comes to counting laps in the pool. After one of the last threads, I decided to try just counting push-offs. It actually worked great - it was very easy to remember the number I was on at the time. I just had to workout how many push-offs I needed to make for the intervals I was doing. To tri or not to tri - that's not a question at all!

While I was doing my swim workout today (Quick side note - I did a swim, then a bike - can we call that a "swike?") in the midst of my intervals, I noticed that my obliques were really working hard. Add to that - I was swimming PR times. It seemed I figured out how to engage my core muscles to pull with. Felt like it was something very good - curious which lead to which. To tri or not to tri - that's not a question at all!

Hi, I have been looking for a swim coach to help me with form and efficiency in the Oklahoma City area and I have not been able to find anything... I ran across this website, www.swimclub.com where they link you up with an instructor for a fee, but I am not sure about using it because how do I know I will get some prepared to teach an adult training for a tri as opposed to a little kiddo.
