How do you get from 22 mph to 24-25 mph?

by mastromb on July 20th, 2009
Ok, I know that by asking this question I open myself up to the obvious answer of put more time on the bike and train harder but let me elaborate a little on this question and my situation.

First sprint down, now looking for more speed

by melicharlie on July 19th, 2009
I completed my first sprint tri this weekend and hit the time I had hoped for, finished feeling great and completely hooked on this sport. So, now that I'm done basking in the glow of not having collapsed... I want more speed. Any tips on how best to improve?

How much can someone really improve?

by emmiesix on April 5th, 2009
(This is my first post, if any mods feel it should be in the newbie forum, I understand... I would have put it there since it is a kind of silly question, but I have in fact done a few triathlons so am not really a newbie myself!)

Aluminum vs Carbon Frames or what TT bike vs Specialized AL- whats faster? Opinions requested.

by rhodidog on August 20th, 2008
I am 180 lbs and 6 4 and a triathelete. I am currently riding an AL Specialized Allez Elite that I bought in 2005 as an entry road bike. I have clip on tri bars for some aero support but that is it. I do well in the tris overall (usually top 10) but am always wondering if I upgraded my bike if it would help my bike time. And if so how should I upgrade?

So I'm trying something new to get my legs moving after a hard bike - Speed intervals

Alright so I'm trying out a new method, I don't think it's revolutionary or anything, in fact I believe I read about something similar somewhere. I'm hoping that someone who has far more knowledge and expereince than I can give me some guidance on this.... Weary is the path that does not challenge.

How fast when you're training?

I've recently been experiencing much better swims. I feel like I'm actually making progress on the position and I'm able to swim much longer and faster than even just a few weeks ago.

Bike Speed

by Shaun_mcc on March 11th, 2008
I'm not sure how much this question makes sense, as it depends on the course, but I'm wondering what the average bike speeds are in a given race. More specifically, what is the average speed for the top 20%, middle 60% and bottom 20% of the pack for each of the triatholon distances (Spring, Oly, 1/2IM, and IM).

The Off-Season- You, Your Bike, and Speed

by Lee Zohlman - BodyZen on October 17th, 2007
It’s pretty unanimous that the bike is most athletes’ favorite part of triathlon. Whether they are fast, slow or middle of the packers most people enjoy the exhilarating feeling of flying down the road in a full aero tuck watching the scenery pass them at a bullet’s pace.

A challenging speed/plyometric/core course is a great way to introduce some spice and variety into your triathlon training program, giving your mind a mental break from the long base training sessions

The Need for Speed

by EnduranceCoach.com on December 12th, 2004
Coach Oliver writes: Nearly all athletes have a desire to increase their race speed or time. Whether it be to break your PB at the local sprint Tri and have bragging rights amongst your buddies or maybe needing to shave an hour of your IM time to qualify for Kona.
