Beijing, China (August 17, 2008) - Australian Emma Snowsill is the new Olympic gold medalist in triathlon, winning on a tough course on a hot day in Beijing today. Vanessa Fernandes finished second to take the silver while Emma Moffatt capped off a stellar day for Australia with the bronze.

I haven't been too diligent in checking posts in the last couple of days so I'm not sure if anyone has brought this up yet, but...
The Olympics are starting in 3 days and I know I'm always looking forward to seeing some of the best athletes in the world compete. However, this could be the worst showing of any olympics in years past, ESPECIALLY for endurance athletes.

Matt Reed held off Andy Potts and Hunter Kemper to secure a spot representing the U.S. in China. Matt Reed (1:52.15) followed by Potts (1:52.35) and Hunter Kemper (1:52.39). Julie Swail Ertel finished in 2:02:21. A recap can be found on USA Today.
