Eating right on the "run"
by TriAu on September 28th, 2009
I am sure I am not the only person out there trying to train around a combination of school, work families, and anything else in your life. Im just curious how everyone goes about eating right even if they don't have a lot of time. I've noticed I am eating out 3 times a day everyday of the week.

$$ Saving Nutrition Tips and Foods That Won't Break the Bank!
by J.Michael on September 24th, 2009
So since I've started to eat very healthy again (when my father passed away early this year I let training and nutrition slip and shot up 20lbs from race weight) I thought it might be cool to have a thread on foods that perform the same role as specialty foods but in a much more economically efficient manner.

5k in SF tomorrow morning!
by amityy on August 29th, 2009
I've got a 5k run in SF tomorrow, mostly flat, mostly asphalt, total of probably about 200 competitors.
I'm on my school's cross country team, and my coach expects a time around 20 minutes or a bit faster.
I ran 5 miles early this morning, not too hard, and I usually run 7-8 every day throughout the week.

by Amish on July 15th, 2009
Hi! i'm training for an HIM right now, but i'm also living like the college student that I am--one bedroom apt.; internship 35hrs a week; living cheap as hell. so I was wondering what i can do to keep eating healthy because I DEFINITELY am not right now (currently munching on some Kroast and cheese/bowl of cereal. what besides pasta and chicken can I easily make and on the cheap?

My first HIM is a week away and was wondering if anyone had any tips on nutrition for the week leading into the race, especially things to avoid.
Drinks pre-race and during
by melicharlie on July 2nd, 2009
I've been doing weekly training tris (400m/10mi/5k) and have been experimenting with a lot of different drinks before and during the event and find myself stuck. I'd like something more than water (during the race, at least) but Gatorade makes me nauseous and, after that, there are just so many options, I'm not sure what to do.

I have been reading Melissa Byers’s blog “Byers Gets Diesel” for a while now I’m a HUGE fan. She is a committed Crossfitter and is becoming a master of everything that comes with that i.e. nutrition and functional fitness. Today, she threw down a mind blowing challenge.
Tri Gut Check: Avoiding Race Day GI Distress
by Trismarter.com on June 25th, 2009
The finish line can seem awfully far away when you are plagued by gastrointestinal (GI) distress on race day. To be clear, the "GI tract" refers to the digestive system, or the mouth, esophagus, stomach, and intestines. Symptoms can range from heartburn, nausea and vomiting to cramping, bloating and diarrhea.
I think I'm having trouble eating enough
by Workerant47 on May 21st, 2009
I'm training for a HIM in July and as my workouts have progressed in duration so has the amount of calories I've burned - hardly rocket science. When I have a workout that 'cost' 2000 kcal I have a hard time getting in enough calories to recover what I lost and still fuel for the next workout.
