Marathon after an Ironman?

by cbowcutt on July 28th, 2008
Hi - I just finished IMLP on 7/20 and would like to train for a fall marathon (10/12). This allows only 10 weeks to both recover from the ironman and get back to a peak -- since I'd like to go all out for this marathon. Any suggestions on how wise (or unwise) this is or should I target a later marathon? thanks, Chris

Running a marathon tomorrow... any last words of advice?

by jhudalla on June 20th, 2008
So tomorrow will be my 8th marathon. My current pr is 4:15 and I'm looking to blow it away (hopefully). In every marathon prior to this one I've failed to successfully take in the right amount(s) of nutrition and always end up rather dead around mile 22. Weary is the path that does not challenge.

Do you train in a "rough neighborhood"?

I thought training in dense urban areas in and around Dallas/Fort Worth was rough. At least I don't have this happen to me: "Kibet suffers another attack" http://www.iaaf.org/news/kind=100/newsid=43362.html Facebook

Did you see the marathon movie? Thoughts, reviews, comments—put them here. Personally, I thought it was an amazingly well done movie. It definitely inspired me to sign up, and do my next marathon!

saltstick caps and hammer endurolytes ?

by wayphun on January 13th, 2008
I ran the Disney Marathon and it was nice hot, humid, and muggy. I was doing fine until I hit mile 23. I had cramps for the last three miles about 5 different times. I live and train in FL and I had never really experienced cramps this often. I have not tried saltstick caps or hammer endurolytes but in doing some research on the web it looks like one of these products could have helped out. My Blog http://cebarnes.com

The Four Corners of Marathon Training

by Lee Zohlman - BodyZen on September 13th, 2007
Most everyone has run at some time or another. Maybe it was when you were a kid and you were chasing the ice cream man or perhaps you ran cross country in high school. Running is a great pastime, activity or sport depending on how you look at it. Now, marathon running is another story.

So you've been training for eight or maybe 12 weeks and marathon day is getting closer by the minute. You've put in countless miles and have one last hurdle to clear before you can tackle race day: the long run.
