Training for Ironman, by doing a marathon?

by Carlos Mx on October 19th, 2008
I am planning my next season, ending with my first Ironman Cozumel in November. Since running is my weak spot, I was wondering if I should plan a late spring marathon (San Diego). I have read so many different opinions on the subject, that I do not know if it is a good idea. What would you suggest?

2nd marathon PR of the year! 3 months - 10 minutes! At this rate I'll be winning by 2010! The race included a 45 degree start, 20 miles of down pour, and gusting winds. All in all, it was a great day! CHIP TIME 5K 10K HALF 30K 20 MILE TIME PACE 3:46:52 24:53 50:38 1:48:37 2:37:04 2:49:04 3:50:25 8:40 Weary is the path that does not challenge.

Cold marathon, what would you wear?

by jnrice on September 17th, 2008
So as is life, the weather in Bozeman, MT has been beautiful for weeks now and my second marathon is this Sunday (I feel reasonably ready). The kicker is that it is supposed to be kind of cold, about 40's, and rainy. I hate this temp range for races. i can never decide what to wear. Shorts, shirt and be cold? Pants and long sleeve and be warm?

With my season coming to a close - how to improve for next year?

by jhudalla on August 28th, 2008
Yep, my season is quickly coming to a close. Its enough to make baby-jesus cry knowing that last year at this time (living in Las Vegas) I was just coming into my big race time of the year. Now back in MN, the sub 60-degree mornings are making it clear fall is on it's way. That and I start school again next week... booo! Weary is the path that does not challenge.
