My 8 year old wants to do a Tri in Aug.
by prendergi on June 29th, 2009
We took my 8 year old to the LBS yesterday because she did awesome on her report card and for all her hardwork she gets a new bike (she would probably have gotten one anyone since she grew out of her old one but shhhh...she doesn't know that). Anyway, like I said, she wants to do a kids tri. 50 yrd/2.3/0.5.

My son who is 8 years old completed his first triathlon last year. He had a few of those "why am I doing this" moments which I too have had. Overall though it was a very positive experience for him and he is excited to do more. Currently he is registered for a super sprint in May.
Hi, back from biking in Italy
by Ironmom on October 10th, 2008
Hi all, I said I'd post when we returned from our cycling trip. We got back this week from biking in Italy, which was fantastic. For anyone who loves cycling, Italy is just a great country to go to. We had a terrific time biking with the kids, did 165 miles through Tuscany with them on the tandem bikes, totally self-supporting pulling all of our gear.

So I took my old, heavy, quasi-mountain bike from CostCo and added one of those hitchhiker / tagalong dealies for my daughter. See the link for a close picture.

Phew! Heavy bike + bike third wheel + 4 year old = quite the hills workout
Ummmm.... anyone want to take swim lessons from my daughter?
by Ironmom on August 8th, 2008
My eight year old just joined the swim team last week, she hasn't had any swim lessons and I swear I've never really even worked with her on form. How many triathletes would love to have this freestyle stroke?
Yep, totally proud swimmer mama here...
