2009 and 2010 World Championships Sites Selected

Long Distance Duathlon World Championships awarded to Belgium

Vancouver, Canada (January 25, 2008) - The International Triathlon Union today announced that Geel, Belgium will host the 2008 ITU Long Distance Duathlon World Championships on August 10th. Located approximately 50 kilometers east of Antwerp, the city has previously hosted the successful 2004 ITU Duathlon World Championships.

First time winners Spirig and Tayama reign in Israel

Nicola Spirig of Switzerland and Hirokatsu Tayama of Japan capped off the 2007 season with their first World Cup wins today in Israel at the 2007 Eilat BG Triathlon World Cup. Spirig finished with a finish time of 2 hours 2 minutes and 42 seconds. In all it was a phenomenal day for Japan.

ITU Announces 2008 BG Triathlon World Cup Series Calendar

CANADA, Vancouver – The 2008 BG Triathlon World Cup series calendar was released by the International Triathlon Union (ITU) today. In total 15 world cups will be organised for the 2008 season with many of the staple events returning and a number of new events emerging. For the first time the world cup series will visit 15 different countries for the 15 premier events.

Unger thrills home crowd as new Triathlon World Champion

HAMBURG, Germany – Daniel Unger has become a national hero, booked a ticket to the Beijing Olympics and shocked the triathlon world all at once. Unger is the new triathlon world champion winning today in a time of 1 hour 43 minutes and 18 seconds. World number one Javier Gomez took the silver, just four seconds behind while Aussie Brad Kahlefeldt came across the line for bronze.
