Heart Rate
what is your resting heart rate
by jnrice on September 1st, 2009
I'm just curious, what is your resting heart rate. I'm doing observation hours for a PT degree and working with inpatient we looked at a lot of HR and % O2. My resting is right around 51 bpm if i really slow down and 60 for average sitting and chatting. is either of these more accepted as "resting"?

So something funny happened over the weekend that I thought I would share. I am not trying to show off, but thought I would share with others who are probably in similiar shape. So at my unit (i'm military) during training over the weekend we had our annual physicals. They took my blood pressure, HR, vision, hearing, shots, etc.
Run Training for a newbie
by oharab on October 1st, 2008
whilst not exactly a complete newbie (I've done 3 triathlons so far in the past 2 seasons, all sprints, all badly) this is the first time I've really decided to go for it and prepare for next season properly.
Heartrate While Swimming
by usasportstrain on March 21st, 2008
I've noticed that my heart rate tends to be much higher when swimming (for a similar level of effort) than cycling and running.
Perhaps it's an anxiety thing, since I've never developed a good level of comfort in the water.
The problem is that I think it handicaps me for the bike and run, as my heart rate doesn't come back down that much.
Your thoughts and experiences?
Elevate resting heart rate

Has anyone had the experience of an RHR that is up day after day even after rest. I am an on/off triathlete. I typically train solid for about 6 months and then swing back to family and work. I started training again in February after about 7 months off. Most years including last year, my RHR is 42-44. This year I've seen 51-54 most of the time. I had a cold but it's been gone for weeks.
Trainer and Heart Rate in Aero position

For Christmas, I just was given my first indoor trainer. Woohoo! Worlds of pain for the fun of it. I'm getting rid of the spin bike and moving to this instead. I've only ridden it twice so far, but noticed on both rides, something that struck me as strange.
