My Garmin FR305 decided it didnt want to power up about 1.5 weeks ago and after talking with the Garmin Tech they said to send it in for repair. My FR305 was out of warranty, $49 , brand new one. Thank you Garmin very much. My next watch upgrade will be Garmin, but not until this one stops working again.

I'm mildly interested, but this is mostly in the interest of keeping things clean, and to help out ccabrales. What are the pros/cons of going with the 405 vs. 305? I would like something smaller, but am I going to notice a lack of features? Let's not talk about the HRM issue, since that's a given...

Most of the reviews I've read have been pretty positive with exception to it's water-proofness. My question is, when not in training, are you able to use it as a normal watch?
