Does anyone else eat constantly?
by burnman on August 29th, 2008
This is not me bragging, and I can only conclude that it's adversely affecting my performance. During my fall-to-spring training, I held steady at around 140-142 lbs (down from my starting weight of around 150). My eating volume generally complemented my training volume, and that seemed to balance very well for 9 months or so.
Favorite Recipes

I am trying to motivate myself to change my eating habits so I figured I would just make a post asking everyone for some of their favorite recipes. They can be simple or extravagant - cheap to expensive. I would like to see what kind of different results I can get on here to help give me different meal choices.
Pre Race/lsd training ~ Evening Meal
by KitKat on July 30th, 2008
Just wondering what everyone likes to feast/fuel up on before a race or long training.
My favorite is sockeye salmon with multi-grain pasta and pesto...followed up by one badass chocolate dessert. I have to eat to the point of being uncomfortable or I just don't have enough energy the next day (HIM).
Pre-race pick me up
by derek5 on July 21st, 2008
I need some advice on pre-race nutrition. I know many people use caffeine or Gu around 30 minutes before a race, but I have somewhat of a dilemma. Caffeine in general gives my body the opposite affect then it does for most. After about 30 minutes I could take a nap. Also, Gu of all kinds doesn't seem to give me that needed pick me up especially for shorter races.
Here it is....make your own mayo, flavored, or dressings
by chefsmith on June 19th, 2008
So a lot of people are asking me about how to make your own mayonnaise...tastier and healthier. Thanks Tikal: The trick to making your own "healthier" mayo is using pasteurized eggs( to prevent food borne illness) and using oils low in saturated fats such as vegetable oils, safflower, sunflower,...there are a few.

5 Tips to Make Your Training Food Taste Better
by chefsmith on June 12th, 2008
There are some triathletes that eat almost exclusively junk foods and never look back. There are others of us that try to eat super healthy foods without any flavor, and then there is a combination of both. I have been cooking for a long time and have found how we can “have our cake and eat it too”.
