Wow... at Challenge Roth Chrissie Wellington destroyed the ironman women's record! 8:31:59!!! The previous record (on the same course, last year) was 8:45:48, and before that it had been 8:50:24 and from 1994. And just as awesome was seeing that Rebekah Keat made up some time on Chrissie during the run!

Craig Alexander and Chrissie Wellington Claim Ford Ironman World Championship Victory

October 11, 2008 (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) – Today, Australia’s Craig Alexander and Great Britain’s Chrissie Wellington celebrated first-place titles at the 30th anniversary of the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Alexander, with an Ironman 70.3 World Championship title in addition to a second-place finish last year in Kona, crossed the line with a time of 8:17:45.

Patrick Vernay and Chrissie Wellington took the wins yesterday at Ironman Australia. Patrick repeats, and Chrissie wins her third Ironman in a year's time. Her only three Ironman at that, proving she is without a doubt a force to be reckoned with. Kate Major held the lead for a good portion of the race and finished second.
