Question about caloric intake on bike
by TriSooner on July 1st, 2008
I broke down and bought some Infinit and want to make the super-concentrate for the bike (yes, I have trained with Infinit a few times in the past month). This is my third Ironman, and in the past I just ate and drank as much as possible. This time, though, I am shooting for a more calorically efficient bike.

Its 8pm, do you know where your calories are at?
by chefsmith on June 16th, 2008
At 5 am I was up today to drive an hour for what I thought was a 25 mile bike ride. I was feeling good, and that soon became a 40 mile ride. After, I checked my HRM and I had burned about 2000 calories. It got me thinking about the lack of or overuse of calories in peoples diets who are in training. I have a great formula that will hopefully shed some light on the subject.

Balance between weight loss and energy supply

I'm thinking about trying to shed a few more pounds before I start competing in a few weeks.
My concern is that I certainly don't want to cut out too many calories because I'm also continuing to ramp up my training and I already sometimes feel like I don't have enough gas in the tank for hard workouts.
Will I be this big forever?

Last June (like many other June's) I decided that I would start running, again. I'm only 5'7" and I let my weight get up to 190. Luckily, this time my June running fever kept going and I did about 6 road races last summer. Bothered by tipping 190 for the first time ever, I also signed up at the pool so I could swim during my lunch hour.
