can you breath too deeply?

by cjhoffmn on June 9th, 2009
Another thing i noticed during my long swim last Saturday... Sometimes, i'd suddenly start feeling really strained in between breaths. I bilateral breath, and sometimes during the strokes without a breath, i'd suddenly feel as if i was really straining. In particular, it felt a little like when you hold your breath and

Wetsuit advice

by Socket on April 29th, 2009
So I had a bit of an issue at my first race of the season this past Sunday: my wetsuit was tight to the point of severely constricting my breathing. I used it last year and had a similar issue the first time I wore it, but it seemed to stretch out and I could breathe normally after that.

In through the nose, out through the mouth... Uh, ummm...

by cjhoffmn on January 24th, 2009
I recently read in runner's magazine some technique suggestions that included a bit about breathing. Aside from timing your breaths with your steps, they suggested always breathing through your mouth. While i was working on this during a run the other night i realized i kept defaulting to the "in through the nose, out through the mouth" idea.

Inhale or Swallow? ... An Insect

by danpatgal on August 21st, 2008
It was a beautiful day yesterday, so I took an extra loop on bike ride home, heading into the sun, and wind, and pushing pretty hard, huffing a bit. Before I could react, right on a huge inhale, a good sized fly made it's way into my mouth, and so far as I could tell I inhaled it. Not swallowed (which I'd prefer, despite that being kind of gross), but inhaled into my lungs.

Tri Top Restricts Breathing

by codedude32 on July 19th, 2008
I'm fairly new to triathlons and have been struggling with my tri top feeling too tight once I'm in a race for over an hour. I wear tri shorts and a sleeveless 2X tri top when I compete. I'm 5'11", 180lbs and don't have a big belly but it feels restrictive around my stomach once I start competing. Does anybody have any suggestions about how to prevent this?

Swallowing air/water

by jonovision_man on June 27th, 2008
Hi all, I've noticed as I'm swimming that after my breath but before I exhale I'm swallowing. It's really subtle, took me a long time to even notice I was doing it! Blog: http://www.marshmallowman2ironman.com/
