I swam 9000yds a week for over a year with this watch and had none of the leakage issues that others report. The GPS is reasonably accurate. Like all GPS units (including the ones in cars) there is some lag time when making U turns, and you can loose the signal when running between tall buildings. I've never had that issue with trees. Because I travel a lot this is a great way to measure my effort on unfamiliar courses. It also helps me stay within the effort/pace I'm shooting for.
Like all HRMs this one is affected by loose cycling jerseys on dry days (static electricity interferes) and benefits from some BuhBump or spit. The HRM strap will not stay on while swimming shirtless so I would recommend a tight tri top for race day.
I use this device on every workout, every time. I have not used other GPS devices, but I found it to be more accurate than foot pod devices. I think the foot pod reads differently depending on how fatigued my stride is. I have also found the HRM to be more reliable than other devices I have used.
My version came with just the HRM strap, but I upgraded to the GPS later.
