I purchased this set of rollers in lieu of a trainer to help develop my balance and control on the bike while providing myself with an option for riding indoors. The learning curve is fairly steep for novice riders, but it is an effective way to work on gaining balance and the ability to hold your line. I purchased these rollers as a novice rider and was able to get a decent workout on them after about 5-6 attempts at maintaining balance. I still do ride with the rollers near a wall, so in the event I lose balance, I have something to brace myself without falling over, but after some time, I've found myself relying less and less on the wall.
When working out on the rollers, you must focus 100% on what you are doing or else you risk riding off the side, so don't purchase if you are the type that likes to zone out or watch TV while training indoors.
These rollers provide an adequate amount of resistance and are not very loud when riding. They are obviously not silent, but I have been able to hold a conversation with someone at reasonable volume without being overpowered by the sound of the rollers.
In all, I'd recommend this product as an effective training tool. However, if you're just looking for something to give you an aerobic workout indoors, you might be better suited with a standard trainer.
