Lack of availibility. Good lukc finding one. Both of my LBS said it would take them 6-9 months to get one. I called around the country and found a place in Chicago that got one to me in a week. If you can find one, buy it!
Great wheel from an awesome manufacturer. I have the HED3's and I was looking for a disc. I considered the Renn, Corima and Zipp options as well as HED. When I compared all of them HED was the obvious choice. Renn is inexpensive but their lower tier models are a little heavy and their hubs are questionable. Renn's top model runs $700 and is a flat disk, which costs as much as the HED Superlight...a lenticular disc. Corima was more pricey and Zipp is obviously the most expensive of these manufacturers. The Superlight is lenticular, meaning lens shaped, which smooths the passing air resulting in less drag. Zipp claims to accomplish much the same thing with their dimpling but those dimples are just chimeras. They're great for creating lift for golf balls but I challenge you to find an engineer (who's not on Zipp's payroll) that says the dimples make Zipps faster or more aero. Don't believe the hype, get a HED.
