HED Standard Disc

Wind tunnel testing at the Texas A&M facility has proved the disc to be the most aerodynamically efficient of all the HED wheels. This has also been corroborated by independent tests at Bath University England, which confirmed the advantages and benefits that a lenticular disc has over flat-sided counterparts. Its sophisticated lenticular shape actually grabs and smoothes the turbulent airflow produced by the rider. This also deflects sidewinds in much the same way, eliminating the sail effect that can seriously compromise bike handling. The hollow construction of the Disc minimizes weight without affecting either strength or rigidity. It also provides the rider with a welcome degree of comfort compared with solid designs, as well as maintaining surface contact for faster ride qualities.

The HED disc is available in rear only, 700c and 650c and a special order 24 inch. There is also a choice of tubular or clincher aluminum rim, screw-on or Shimano compatible cassette, as well as a single speed track version.
