I am 39 years old, a devoted Christian, married to a wonderful man who is an excellent runner and cyclist. We have 3 beautiful children, ages 8, 10, and 12 (two boys, youngest girl). I have enjoyed cylcing since college (when a bike was my only transportation). I swam as a child one year on a swim team, my senior year in high school, and one year on a Master's team my 1st year of college. I watched a triathlon on tv 22 years ago and was fascinated! However, after several attempts at running in college left me with shin splints, I gave up the idea...until this past summer when I learned a high school classmate who was always a brilliant student, excellent musician, non-athletic, has recently completed several triathlons. That did it! My husband and I had purchased road bides last spring and had been enjoying riding, so after researching shin splints I learned streaches and got good running shoes, bought a swim suit and goggles and jumped back in the pool. Since starting tri training late July '08 I have placed 2nd and 1st in my age group in the 2 Sprint Triathlons I have done. I love the challenge, and I am having fun!
