Yesterday was my first 5k race I’ve a couple triathlons but never a foot race. It was a lot of fun, short, but fun. The race started at the Salt Lake City hall right at 7:30. It took about a mile to get my legs under me but then I was off. We made our way up State Street which had a nice uphill grade to it which was a lot of fun but as soon as we hit South Temple I was sprinting and once I hit the Gateway I really kicked it up. I finished in 28:44 min. My goal was 9 min/miles which I did do. My only complaint is that they didn’t have a bike only area so the bikers had to fight to get past the runners, which is dangerous for everyone. So, race organizers fix that for next year. I even saw some bikes drive into on coming traffic that is crazy, stupid and dangerous!!
