1st day of the New Me!!!
Ok, here is the history up to this point! I just finished my 2nd triathlon in Decatur, AL. I finished 7th in my age group and Bonked after the swim leg. I thought to myself, "If I am going to do these, I have to make a true commitment to be the best, not just for me, but my family!"
I am 26 years old, been married for about 2 years now (Loving every minute), and about 20 pounds overweight. My goal for doing triathlons is to lose the 20 pounds and become an ironman in 5 years. I know that if I truly set my mind to it, I could do an ironman before the 5 year limit I set for myself, but, I thought this would be a good goal.
I am going to set fourth every week and record my struggles, accomplishments, breakthroughs, best workouts, worst workouts, and some silly side notes during these next 5 years.
Rock on!
I have lost about 15 pounds in the last 6 months just by de-carbing my diet a little and ramping up the training. I'm no fan of the Atkins diet but 1 less bowl of cereal, 2 fewer pieces of bread and a moratorium on pasta for dinner has gone a long way.
Do an IM when you're ready. 5 years, 10 years - doesn't matter. What matters is that you are having fun and feeling fit.
Awesome, welcome to the site. Great goals and you should be able to conquer the Ironman well within your time frame. Keep us posted on your training and journey.
