I am eighteen years old. Until a little over one year ago, I wheezed through the mile in gym class and had no desire to bike further than the end of the street (and it's not even a long street!). Struggling with a weight problem throughout middleschool and into high school, I finally decided to do something about it during my sophomore year. My new routine began with walking, then moved on to biking, then running, and finally stopping the horrible habbit of unhealthy snacking between meals and before bed. I started at 5'7" 165 and am now 5'10" 140. Seeing the four years of college meal plans and independance ahead of me, I am looking for something that requires training year round, and (as you might have guessed) I chose triathlons. As kind of a spur of the moment thing, I entered in the waupaca area triathlon with just one month to train. Race day is Saturday, only 3 days away, and I am both nervous and incredibly excited. My current goal is to train throughout the winter and compete in both an olympic distance and H.I.M. next summer. Any and all advice/input is greatly appreciated.
