Anybody have any good advice on running shoes? Kinda like if I buy a Cervelo R3 with Zipp 808's it will be a fast competative bike at any level. Is there somebody that makes a running shoe on that level. I also ran across some elastic shoes laces with a quick release. Does anybody use these?

Where to start......, not all feet and running styles are the same.
What works for me or anyone else may not work for you. There are factors such as Over-pronation, Morton's toe, Superination. Do you need stability, Motion control, or cushion? Do you have a low, high, or medium arch?

So how do you find the answers to these questions?
You go to a quality running store....not the Foot Locker, and you have them fit you for shoes. They should ask to check your gait when they find out that your there for shoes. If they don't your in the wrong store. A quality place works off repeat business and will take care of you. They usualy take the shoes back if you try them and don't like them. Try that at Dick's.

hope that helps

^^^ Agreed. Go to a legit running store. I run in Mizuno Wave Riders(over 10K) and Precisions(10 K and under) with Yankz laces for Tris.

Googles, Out.

Well said! A good running shop will analyze your running style and even your old shoes (I always recommend that you take your current pair with you) and then make recommendations from there. I always go in running gear as they have always let me take the shoes for a spin around the block to see which ones I like best. :)

I could be way wrong on this, but it might depend on how much you plan on using the shoes for running. If they are going to be used for casual days, and an occasional 2 mile run, picking the comfortable pair at Dick's might not be all that bad.

If you are planning on running enough that you took the time to post here, I assume that you intend on logging some miles on them every week, and you want a pair that will not aid in causing an injury...

Last month I went to a running store to buy shoes for the first time in my life. I spent $120 on the shoes, and I usually spend $80, but it was worth it. I agree 100% with everything the others have said about going to a running shop.

Running shoes are different then bike rims because people have different feet and therefore different needs. i.e. I need running shoes which have a lot of cushin. Other people may want lighter shoes.

I would suggest going to a store where they specialize in running shoes.

Ditto to this.

You need to go to a running store to have your running style, foot style, support, cushioning, et all examined. It's something that will have to be done in person rather than over forums.

I bought some Newton's site and foot unseen. They've been the best shoes I've ever bought.
