Switching to a Triathlon bike
Have you compared your speeds between the 2 bikes yet? As far as pace are you noticing a big difference on the Cervelo versus the trek?
Whats everybody's preference mix it up, or train only on your triathlon bike?
I do the majority of my base work on my road bike and slowly starting switching over to my tri bike through the spring. From late spring until the end of my season, I train almost exclusively on my tri bike. I do this for a couple reasons:
1. Base is all about your aerobic base, so I want to go long. Going long is easier for me on my road bike (I've done a couple 5+ hour rides on the tri bike, but I really don't like it).
2. During the season, I want my muscles used to what they'll be doing in races. The tri bike makes you use different muscles than your road bike, so I want to train those muscles accordingly.
So answering your question, I'd definitely use the Cervelo a lot to be used to it for the race.

Not fast enough.
MITriGuy,
I haven't really zoned in on my position yet. I did try putting all my effort in one ride, and noticed a 1mph increase, but my knees are tweaking me in the current aero position. Can't wait to really compare once I get the positioning figured out.
UFTriGator,
Thanks for the input. Really good advice.
Has anyone experienced pain in the top of the knee when switching from their road bike (73 degrees) to a tri-bike (78 degrees) I feel great on the road bike. I moved the seat on the Cervelo to the (75 degree shallow position, with the seat all the way forward. (effectual angle 76?) This felt better for the quick test spin.
By moving the seat post to the shallow position, am I defeating the advantages of a tri-bike? or is a shallow position still valid.
Anybody else ride in a Cervelo in the shallow position?
Thanks for any help.

Shallow is fine. You have to find the fit that works for you. The Scott Plasma is 75 or 76. Its not going to ruin your race to ride a couple of degrees shallow.
Cameron Brown won IMNZ by like 20 minutes on that frame.

Hello Everybody,
I finally purchased a triathlon bike. In the past I have ridden my Trek 2100 50cm with some self attached aerobars. (It just put my head out of the wind, more than an aero position.) In addition now I have a Cervélo P2C 48cm, 650 wheels. I am going into a fitting for both bikes on Thursday, any pointers there?
I was just wondering about any tips for adjusting into the new bike. Also curious about training when mixing a road bike with 700 wheels and your race bike with 650 wheels.
I am planning to mix it up through the week, with more emphasis on the Cervélo as a race approaches.
Whats everybody's preference mix it up, or train only on your triathlon bike?
Thanks for any advice.
