Kona- Day 2
For the pics just make an account over on endurable.us -- it does a great job of making the pic a reasonable size straight off the camera. And I've started a thread of Kona pics if you want to just add to it :)
It was nice to meet you! I must say it is fun to see the real person behind the screen name. You were much more excited and animated than I expected (guess typing doesn't express smiles too well)! And thanks again for the extra banquet ticket!!
The fish were fun to watch. I definitely had no problem keeping my eyes looking down while I swam.

I know, who would figure I was in reality a spazz!

Of course it's 'effing hard, it's IRONMAN!
Well not exactly a spazz :-P It was more that the passion was really visible, where seeing lots of posts on numbers presented a bit of a more collected image to me. Hope you don't take that as a bad thing! :)

Bryan, how would you describe the winds relative to the day we had at IMAZ this year?

There are no excuses - so don't look for them. As a product of your own choices, you directly determine your life outcomes.
Don't think, just do.

Taken the right way, Kylie. :) I'm in person very animated, a real extrovert, I wear my emotions on my sleeve. :)
Lobor, it's blowing pretty hard, very stiff and constant cross wind. I'm not ready to say it's worse than AZ yet, but we'll see.

Heading to the swim again this AM Bryan? Are you going to wear any of the swim skin type things? Mike has a BlueSeventy one -- I'm curious to see how it goes today when he tests it. They had been sold out in our area, but thanks to Tim at BlueSeventy found one here and got help making sure the fit was perfect :)

I have a Zoot SpeedSuit I have worn this year in a few non-wetsuit swims. They are really nice.

Did you try the new Zoot shoes (and find the Fuel Belt giveaway)? I think they felt really neat -- like my foot was gripping the insole, and very seamless to make sockless nice.

Got up around 4:30 am as thats when I will be up on Saturday. Had a Cliff Bar and coffee and rallied the troops at 6:00am. We all headed down to the Pier at 7:00 for a swim in the Bay. I brought the bike in the mini-van as we still couldn't get the bars on and needed to pay a visit to the LBS, of which there are many.
It was a beautiful morning and my wife and mom joined be in the water. It was packed down on the Pier! I saw Norman's bike and Desiree was there too! She looked great. I swam all the way out to the Coffee's of Hawaii boat where they were giving away free samples 800 meters from shore! . The water was warm and wonderful and I could see all the way to the bottom. Ton's of fish swimming below, I wanted to dive down to them. It was a little chaotic as people were swimming in all directions so you had to spot all the time or risk collision.
Once out of the water, we saw the Underwear Run come into town. It was a riot! I then headed over to Registration while the troops went to put my bike in order. I ran into Kylie and Mike! They were very cool and we made plans to meet up with them tonight. We met up back at the Expo for some shopping and ran into Farris! He was there with his bike, not more than 3 feet from me. We didn't get a chance for a pic, my wife was to shy to ask. It was now about 10:30 and getting hot, so we went back to the condo. After having some food, it was time to drive the bike course. We loaded up into the van and headed up the Queen K.
The course is long, straight, exposed, and VERY windy. The hills are long rollers. The wind is mostly cross, though it became more of a headwind on the way back. I swear, there were lunatics actually 20-40 miles out there on their bikes and some of them had IM wristbands, so you know they are racing! Insane, and stupid. Once back at the condo, I took the Saber out for a test ride. Now we are getting ready for the Welcome dinner and Athlete meeting. Only one more day!
PS- I'll try and start getting my pics up, but the computer doesn't have any photo editing software to make it easier for me. Sorry!
