Scholarship/grant program for prospective triathletes

I think it is a neat idea :) I know there is a group in my area that helps kids get into the sport (finding bikes for them, or setting them up with relay partners for races). And my tri club often helps them out (donations and bodies). So you might want to see if anything similar is already in your community, too.

Thanks. :)
I just sent a message out to my local club to see what they think.
Relay partners and finding and adjusting bikes for them would be great too!

I really love the idea. Do keep us/me posted!
Set goals...... but be here now. Enjoy the ride to the finish line.

I was responding to another thread from Donna about the guilt she felt for paying so much into triathlon, when so many go without.
This made me think, maybe it's time for those of us in multisport to welcome those less fortunate in our respective cities.
The clubs could provide mentoring and guidance, raise money for a scholarship program (like the YMCA does, as they don't turn anyone away), and the local shops and national manufacturers could provide gear and training aids.
What do you think?
