Guess since the race is just about a month away it makes sense the big names will start dropping for the race. The New York Times today mentions in a profile piece on Lance that he does plan to return again this year - with a target of sub-three hours. Training appears to be running, gym time and kayaking centric.

Also of note, Paula Radcliffe, current women’s world record holder, announced she’ll make her marathon comeback after a two year break at the NY Marathon. Last week, at the Great North Run in South Shields, England she took second in the half marathon behind Kara Goucher.

Alright, Paula...nice to see her in...she always makes for a great race.
Lance...couldn't care less. Sorry. Just not a hero of mine.

ha ha ha... I knew he couldn't keep away. He said it was the hardest thing he'd ever done and he would never do it again... except he might. And he is. A man with a goal that will not be denied! I'll bet he trained a lot harder for it this year :)

I'd like to see him go sub 3 but super 2:42 - just so he can maintain some humilty.

Also hooray for Paula Radcliff. She is one class act - I really like her.

Second to Culpepper, Paula Radcliffe is my running hero. I expect Lance to run around a 2:53.

You know what? When Lance said he would never run a Marathon again, it made me think. We allll at some point during - or right after a hard race have said "man, I will never do that again" Or "what the heck was I thinking" and so on. I know during my last 1/2 IM I told myself this would be my last one 1/2 way into the run. I am now signed up for 2 next year and flirting with the idea of a full IM:eek:

I remember during my first Tri, a sprint, I swore this was crazy and I would never but myself through sooo much pain again. After the race was over, I wish I had another one lined up for the next week.

Today is the first day I am feeling somewhat normal after the IM and found myself contemplating the Philly Marathon in Nov. Still probably won't do it, but thinking about it a little.

Addiction? Absolutely.

haha very true. halfway into the swim in my first sprint I said "screw this! road biking is so much easier!" now I'm planning tri's for next year and working on an olympic distance training program.
