Nice series. I agree that the mental aspect of racing and training is often neglected. I really liked Millmans book but I didn't think that the movie did it justice. It would be a difficult movie to make to achieve the same impact that the book did.
Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment sections below the articles. Both Mark, Dan and Steve read those and are willing to answer any questions you have.
I know Dan and Steve don't visit these forums, and am not sure if Mark does.

I hit a snag in the getting the final interview wrapped up with the "Multisport Mutant." Should have that online by Monday or Tuesday. Sorry for the delay to the three of you who were reading the interviews with Mark Allen and Dan Millman.
To make up for the delay, one of my buds donated a $25 Amazon gift certificate I'll give away to the person who submits the most creative off-season training photo.

Rather than wait for the tri mags to do this, I decided to take matters into my own hand. I want to learn more about the mental aspect of the game. What is it that drives elite athletes beside their genetic talent?
Again, the magazines barely scratch the surface of this topic and often just throw out pabulum for the masses to absorb. I’ll puke if I see another lame article on pilates, yoga or how to use one of those lame-ass bozu balls to increase your “core.”
I'm launching a series called "Going Within" tomorrow morning. The one and only triathlon legend Mark Allen kicks it off and we talk about mental performance and what he feels was the true catalyst that drove his success in the Hawaii Ironman.
For Wednesday, it’s a chat with Dan Millman, author of the internationally acclaimed best seller “The Way of the Peaceful Warrior” and how endurance athletes can better develop their mind-body-spirit connections to improve not only their performance on race day, but in their lives in general.
Finally, I’m wrapping up an interview with the “Multisport Mutant” Steve Ilg on why he believes meditation has been a key factor in his athletic success. Just this year alone, this 45-year-old made the overall podium four times…each time in a different sport. He believes meditation had just a wee bit to do with those remarkable performances.
I hope you can learn something from it that may benefit your training in the years ahead. I have more interviews on tap and will bring in a second round of guests later this fall if there's more interest in this topic.
