Dura Ace or Ultegra
I find it depends on the components. I LOVE my dura ace brakes -- they are the only upgrade I made on my tri bike from how I got it. They just feel must better. I believe the other component I really wanted dura ace was the rear deraileur (which I did get on the tri bike), but for some reason my brain isn't sure on that part right now ;)
For cassette and chain I actually wanted Ultegra since it lasts better and I can't really feel a difference.
However, for some components the biggest difference is really just the weight of them, and right now that isn't a concern for me.

There is a little bit of difference, but it's mostly weight. If you only have the money to one or the other, definitely go for the wheels. Aero wheels make significant improvements in speed, but changing your components from Ultegra to DA won't.

Not fast enough.
However, the brakes make my bike a lot more fun to ride -- I'm willing to hit higher speeds if I know I can safely stop and control it. So then I'm on the bike more, and enjoy it more. Plus, they weren't quite enough of a $$ to cross of (or allow immediately) wheels.
That said, for me wheels are next... and possibly a power meter (I love the breakfast discussions in my house). I doubt I'll ever change any other components over to dura ace.

Sorry, I meant to write that in addition to your post, not against it. :D DA brakes are definitely well-known for having the most stopping power out there. I was talking about cranks, derailleurs, shifters (if he's running STI), etc.

Haha... and I meant my reply in addition to your post as well :) Wanting to train more is HUGE in terms of gains in the sport, and just didn't want it ignored in the component decision.

DA is really good stuff. I still have DA brakes from 1987 on one of my bikes, with the original brakes pads too. But if all you're looking at is brakes consider getting the older 9-spd ones. Similar stopping power and much less expensive than 10 spd via ebay.
I've not had both, but I'd spend more money on the wheels. For sure even many pros don't use DA chains I think for the reason Kylie suggested: more strength & durability.
I believe many pros will train on ultegra cassettes and chains, but will race on DA.

Is there noticeable difference?
I do not know weather to spend some extra money on Dura Ace over Ultegra or use that money for a better wheel set.
