A bit off topic...but I noticed a great surfing trip in Costa Rica (one week training/learning camp). I'm researching some other options now for similar events. I would love to do a one week/two week trip somewhere to learn surfing or something similar (kayaking, etc)...I love adventure and new things so my options are open! The trip I noticed is a bit pricey so I wanted to research a few other trips...any advice of trips you've done/heard of would be greatly appreciated! The internet is just too unreliable without feedback from others.

I have a friend who went on a one week surfing camp in Bali and loved it. She raved about it so much I started looking into trips also, Bali would be great but a little pricy for my budget.

Which surf camps have you seen in Costa Rica? there are several and they all vary in price. I'm considering Costa Rica Surf Adventures for Women, just because I have a co-worker who has been to their week long camp and goes back every two years, she loved it so much and always talks about how great everyone is. There are also some really inexpensive surfing camps in Mexico, and you can always find cheap airfare to Mexico.

I've gone on a mountain biking trip with a bunch of my friends which was fairly inexpensive in Colorado (Breckinridge) during the summer a couple of years ago. Hotels lower their rates in the summer to try to get people to go after the snow has melted. We flew into Denver, picked up groceries and drove up. We rented bikes for a couple of days and they even gave us a group discount.

thanks for the tips joycita...the camp in costa rica is the surf diva camp....it looks awesome, but i'd really like to weigh my options. I actually saw a spread in a women's fitness mag (cant remember which one) for the surf diva camp and feel in love with the idea! i'm willing to dish the dough if its worth it, extra money for a kick butt experience is fine in my books!

i will look into the costa rica camp you mention. also do you have any info on the bali trip your friend did?

again, thanks for the advice

No problem!

That surf camp does look really cool, I also looked into that one but i didn't know anyone who had gone, and as you mentioned the internet can be unreliable and without any info. from anyone I didn't really consider it.

The surf camp in Bali is called The Surf Goddess Retreats (www.surfgoddessretreats.com). They also have a diving retreat which looks wicked cool.
