abdominal pain following 30 mile bike
What are you eating and drinking before, during and after?? How fast are you going?

basic breakfast-protein shake with fruit, granola. slow 12 mph pace. Rest stop halfway, grabbed couple of cookies and H2O then finished ride. Ate regular lunch afterwards.
Maybe dr_rio_ec ("the doc" can help better but my guess might be indigestion?? Hot baths do help relieve the pain of it. Maybe someone else can help better.

Any thoughts or suggestion?
Yes - talk to a doctor.
Sounds like you are not alone, though

Maybe you tense up your abdominals for the whole ride and then have referred pain that manifests as 'internal' rather than muscular? Maybe your bike geometry is not good for you and you are impinging on a nerve while you ride. Could be all sorts of things. Sounds really uncomfortable, though which is why I'd try talking to a doctor if you have one.

Aging,
A talk with the doc is never a bad idea. You didn't mention the time between breakfast and your ride. If it were me I'd want at least two hours to digest what you had before hitting the road. That ride was probably 1.5 - 2 hours. For a ride of that length I'd probably have a couple of gels or just drink Gatorade. Cookies sound great but my stomach would rebel. If indegestion is the culprit, some have found a Tums tablet helpful. Or try other options that don't disagree with your stomach.
Do you mix your shake with milk? Dairy is a common culprit in cramps and stomach pains.

I have taken 2 relatively long non-race bike rides recently, one was 35 miles and one was 30. After both rides I had sharp pains running from upper thoracic to lower abdominal regions. After the second ride the pains lasted 5 hours and then gradually left after a hot bath. Has anyone ever experienced these? In trying to diagnose myself I am wondering if I had some ischemia from sitting so long and not getting off the bike. The pain is not muscular or bowel and it is definitely internal. It felt like a sharp burning type indigestion pain but there was no reason for indigestion and it was much more dispersed. Any thoughts or suggestion?
