Hi, I'm Sully!
Welcome and I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Welcome. I have done quite a few training rides up the through the beautiful Lehigh Campus. There are 3 nice tris planned for next summer in the Lehigh Valley. You will be amazed at how much you will learn on this site.
Tri's are addicting - glad you are getting caught up in it!

Sweet! Where might one find information about these? Its within driving distance for me and info about races in the area for next year are a bit light at the moment.
Welcome to the site! I was also a runner first and found I really like the combo, too :)
and beat lafayette!
I used to run up your way in HS and there were some great hills out that way. what are you planning on for next year?

Cool, maybe I'll even find some people to ride with from here!
3 races: Steelman I know is supposed to be awesome. I've done Catfish out in Harrisburg the past two years which falls on the same date, but I would like to give Steelman a try because I've heard good things.
I looked into the EnduraSport Mini for this year but I opted to do that Lancaster Family YMCA since it was standard Oly distances and I had never done one of them before.
What's the third? I think there's one in Bath still to go this summer actually which I thought about, so maybe that's what you're referring to.

Now that's the spirit! And yeah, living on the side of a small mountain gives you pretty easy access to all the hill training you could desire. As for next year I'm not sure. I would like to eventually do an IM so I thought about trying a HIM in the middle of the season and then tapering down to sprints at my peak. I will probably wait a season or two to try the HIM though....maybe see how good I can get while I still qualify as U23 and then move up for the challenge.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome everyone! It's interesting to see so many quick replies to a newbie in the forums...a very friendly community I can tell.
The first two are correct. Steelman is really well done. Endurosport has less entrants but offers a half as well as a mini. The Black Bear (half and sprint) is in Palmerton (above Whitehall). There is one in the Bath/Northhampton area, but I don't know of anyone who has done it. Not advertised well in the area.

I used to volunteer at the Bath one. if it is the same it has a shallow pond swim - very short swim, hilly technical ride and out and back 5k with long gradual return.

Hello everyone! I'm Sully and I have a feeling I'll be on these forums quite a bit now that I've found them :)
I'm a student from Lehigh University in PA, and just completed my second triathlon season (sprints and olys, unlike all the IM all stars here!) I come from a track and cross country background, though I ran shorter stuff (400/800) and was never very successful at xc. Now that I've begun swimming and biking I discover that I like them more and more....and I'm probably much better suited to be a bike TT guy than a distance runner.
Anyway, its safe to say that I've caught the bug. I spend hours reading about tris, looking at equipment, analyzing race data...sometimes I even get outside and train!
