Hey Y'all,

Well, this weekend saw me have a flat as I was leaving T1 (< 50 meters in fact). After uttering a few choice words, pulled over and started to work.

  1. Cold Hands make ripping the old tire off very difficult
  2. Use a tire iron from the start, and save the hands
  3. TUFO Extreme Tape comes off pretty easily from the rim
  4. Pre-stretch the spare tire (thankfully I did this)!!!
  5. TUFO Extreme Tape made seating the new tire very easy
  6. The CO2 inflator works just fine, once you unscrew the cartridge a 1/4 turn or so...
  7. Place trash neatly beside the road
  8. After putting the wheel back on, reposition the Computer Pickup.
  9. Place the bike in an easier gear, before getting on
  10. Cleanup the trash after the race is over....

Overall, the TUFO Extreme Tape worked very well, my biggest problem was I was trying to go fast, with Cold Hands, and that means everything goes more slowly. I would have been better off to take a couple of deep breaths and then started in on the tire.

I checked the old tubular, and found that I had hit a piece of glass, causing about a 1/4" tear in the side wall, the TUFO Sealant had tried to do it's thing, but that was too much for the stuff.

I'm off for a ride...

Good lessons...
I tried the Tufo sealant on my training wheels...it didn't work.
I'm a old fashioned guy and can't bring myself to use anything but glue....but nice to know the tape worked well for you.
Also add..give the wheel a spin and check to see that the tire is aligned properly on the rim before you put it back on the bike.
