Which Ironman location has the coolest weather?
IMWI was perfect this year as far as temp. Low 70's then cooled down on the run.
Tho it is pretty risky --- several very hot years and then the cold wet of 2006. No guarantees!

I think it really varies year to year. Supposedly Canada was just about perfect this year, along with IM WI. But at IM WI it was a bit tooo cool last year (along with lots of rain) and way hot other years, as RV said.
You can pick a location that historically is nice... but it's still no guarantee. And I don't even know of any of those ;)

Canada WAS perfect, but typically temps hit the 90's (at least the last 3 years I have been up there. This was not usual. From what I know, Florida is probably your best bet. It is in November and that time of year is moderate. Of course there are always exceptions (just look at the DW marathon this year--80's in January).
I know CDA is often hot, as is Louisville. AZ has the potential to go either way since it is so early in the year (at least from what I've seen -- I would have guessed that it was likely to be hot but didn't feel that and don't remember seeing that).
Anyone know what is expected at LP each year?
Or perhaps look at international races, or non-mdot ones :)

if an "iron" distance is ok starting in '08 there will be a new iron distance one in wilmington NC on or about Nov 1 typically not very hot. it will be run by the company that did the old Duke Blue Devil iron distance a well respected iron distance race that went under

I did IMWI in 2006 and loved the temperatures. It would have been perfect for me without the rain and waves in the swim. Unfortunately 5 out of the 7 IMWI races have been too hot for me. That's why I'm looking to travel for the next one.
What about the ones on the other side of the big pond?
Sounds like IM UK might be worth trying if you are concerned about high temps, humidity. I did it this past August. Highs only made it in the 70s with almost no humidity. Water temp was 60 deg F. Rain and wind actually made it cold at times. Sun peeked out now and then. From what I heard, the year before it was sunny and 70s.
Plus no where else will you hear the word "cheers" used in every sentence.
I picked IMFL largely because of the average race day temperature of 74. I don't do well in hot weather at all, so I really wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get roasted. On the other hand, the temperature race morning was very cold, which I hadn't bargained for! Low 40's with a wind chill taking it into the 30's.
Another added bonus is the early November date, which lets you train through the summer and then taper off in the fall when the bad weather rolls in, then head down to the beautiful beaches in Florida (it was nice the whole week we were there, right up until a day or so before the race!)

I'd like to do another one in 2009. I'm wondering which Ironman location has the coolest temperatures. I'm a big guy and would prefer a race with run temperatures in the 60s to low 70s. Low humidity is also a plus. Thanks!
