I just finished a race report on my blog, but I just had to at least describe a little of the experience.

Temp: 38 degrees at the start, maybe up to 45 by end of race.

The race got off to a slow start as it seemed most people were just cold and not wanting to move very fast. My legs never got warmed up until the run, I felt like I had a horrible race, but my times were pretty good.

So in the end, it was a good race and it'll make for a fun story to tell.

Nothing beats those really cold races. Glad to hear your times were good.

Not sure how accurate he was, but I heard someone say that the water temp was 71 degrees, which was NICE. You could see the steam pouring off the water.

After the swim my feet went numb walking on the grass to the transition area, and I think they stayed numb until about mile 2 of the run.

Good race! Thanks for linking us to your report!

Yeah, I did the sprint at Portage. I really didn't think it was THAT cold. Of course I work outside for a living through the snow and everything. That being said, I swore I was getting frostbite on my feet on the bike since I decided to skip putting on the socks. The run warmed them back up though. I was pleasantly surprised at how agreeable the water temp was.
