Racing Cadence
is 100 too high?
100 isn't too high if that is the cadence that works best for you.
I push 85.

Not fast enough.
95 for me.

Not totally sure since I don't have a bike computer, but its quick. Definitely 100+ on my pathetic little toothpick legs. Before I got my compact crankset, I used to race in the 42 on my old triple and did my fastest race to date in my it which was my 1:10 40k bike split way back in '05...
I am a bit of a gear masher and have an average cadance of 80-85 on the bike.
Usually 80-90
I usually do about 100.

I counted yesterday on a race tempo effort and came up with about 95 average. Lowest was 88 on a moderate hill, highest was 100. On the flats, I hover around 95. I've been working on developing a higher cadence over the last couple of years, and seen my bike splits getting faster (1:08 in my last Oly race) so I think higher is better for me. I've especially seen a big improvement in hill climbing now that I've been working on spinning up the hills in a lower gear.

Looks like all the advise suggests something between 80-100rpm. No one can tell you exactly what is the best for you, the big difference is how efficient are you at different rpm's, how does it affect your running and what are you comfortable at.
It does take time to alter your cadence - so that it becomes natural. I originally rode at about 80 - I spent a lot of time to work up to where I am now comfortable at 95. I am always looking to push the biggest gear at that cadence but maintaining HR.
