My first vist to PGT was a success, had a goal of three hours finished 3:08 I"ll take it! Knew the bike course pretty well and that it would suit me (no big hills) . My plan was stay in contact on the swim, ride my ass off on the bike and just keep running till I gave out. The swim was colder then I thought it would be and the kelp doesn't make things any easier still, I managed to improve my swim time by ten minutes. Hit the bike and stuck to the plan of staying in the small chainring for the first three miles to loosen up then, at the turn around opened it up and never looked back, finishing in a 1:14. The run leg went as it has all year 10 minute miles, been plagued with ankle issues since January which has held me back from improving any on my running this year next year with some recovery will be different. The biggest blow is my transition times, 6 and 5 minutes I need to stop taking pee breaks and learn to leave the shoes on the bike. With the ankle thing running in cleats makes me nervous but overall I'm very happy, I shaved thrity minutes off my time since my first event in May. And for someone who hasn't competed in ten years it was a good year back.

PG is a very fast course, with good road conditions through out, the water is cold and the kelp thick but rewards all who attack.

Great job, A 30 minute improvement in a season is nothing to take lightly. That takes alot of hard work. Rest up and allow that ankle to heal and you will be in great shape next year.

Thank you all, I'm very encouraged by how my season went and think next year I will give HIM a go. Vineman is a hour from home so why not right?

Vineman is a fun race. Definitely crowded, but fun :)
