For those of you interested, Ironman Louisville (aka IM KY) online registration is now open for 2008!

I had a great time at it... but things to be aware of:

  1. water is warm = could be a no wetsuit swim
  2. can be pretty warm/humid in Aug in KY
  3. bike course is rolly -- nothing crazy, but be ready to do some shifting

But here are some other things to be aware of:

  1. race directors were on top of things: adjusted the swim course to account for current the week of the race
  2. AWESOME finish line at 4th St. Live

Depends on the race... since this is new, and not put on by NA Sports (who do all the other Ironman races in North America) but by WTC (who does Kona) it will take a bit longer. Arizona I think still takes a bit longer as well, but less and less each year (this was it's third year).

I talked to Graham Fraser (awesome, postive, down to earth guy) at IM Wisconsin this weekend...IM Arizona will move to November eventualy...for one year it will be held in both April and November so that folks will not lose out on Kona qualifying. I would like to try it someday if they do that.:)

At 20 miles of the run in the Ironman we ask ourselves why we do this. At mile 140.6, it all becomes perfectly clear.

hahaha there has been talk of that for I think the last 2 years. I will be interested to see when it really moves how that goes, but I love how it still sounds like a "someday we want to do this" thing :)

Ha ha...really??!!??

Darnit.....nd here I was all excited that there was going to be another doable Ironman date for me.

Living in Canada, the April dates of IM AZ and CDA mean 5 hour trainer rides and the hampster wheel is already too painful for me in the off season!

Yeah I already have a harder time getting up to workout and that's just cause it's darker out than usual! I don't know if I'd want to do the trainer and treadmil training route!

Are you just looking for a different full iron to experience, or do you not like IMWI?

Hi Kylie :)

I loved IM Moo very, very much!!!
It was my first IM and absolutely incredible. I have found in my 3.5 years of running and what with this being my second season of triathlon, that I am someone that really likes the long distance stuff.

I'm doing Lake Placid IM next year, and am just thinking ahead about other options; as life evolves, you never know where it will lead you. I just know that I cannot do an IM earlier in the year like Arizona or CDA....pure hampster wheel torture!! Winter running for the most part can be a blast and I don't mind it at all, but it's a no go for this girl on the trainer for anything over 3-3.5hours! :(

that makes sense. I also find that I seem to prefer longer stuff. I'm not allowed an IM next year though (going to be doing grad school and working full time, so it's halfs and shorter).

I want to do Placid someday... and Canada!

I guess you might just have to look international after that :)

Kylie,

We are doing IM Canada in 2009....consider it as we will have a group of 15-20 there. :D
