continental comp. tubular
I use them, and they're good tires. There's really no reason to inflate that high unless you're racing on a track or possibly on a course that's entirely brand new asphalt (I'm not sure if that exists or not). The higher the pressure, the lower the rolling resistance, which will make you faster, except when you hit an imperfection in the road (not just cracks and potholes, but every little flaw that you can't even see). On the track, that isn't a problem, but on the road the higher pressure will cause you to "bounce" higher than a softer tire, which means some energy isn't going toward forward motion. The sweet spot for a good road is about 130-140 psi. If the road is going to be rough, go a little lower. If you DO decide to pump them up to 170 (just for fun and you want to punish your bootey?), nothing bad is going to happen. They'll probably go even higher than that without any problems (tubulars can hold higher pressures than clinchers).

Not fast enough.
I use them too. I weigh 70 kegs and pump them up to 160PSI. Not as scientific as TriGator, just figured they won't blow in transition as the day heats up over here.
It's the onlt tire I race on...170 is way too much, especially in hot weather. 170 PSI plus high temps and road friction and brake heat increases the air temp inside the tire and makes for a loud bang flat! I ride at 130/140.

does anyone use this tire, and if so, what psi do they inflate to? it says 170 psi on the tire, but i havent been going quite that high in fear of well...the unknown i guess. this is my first pair of tubulars. any input would be nice thanks
