Another newb question-
FWIW I started tri's in spring of 06. Did 4-5 sprints with a half that fall. Signed up for IMWisconsin 2007 in Sept of 06. Got on a structured training plan in mid Dec 06 and a coach round about Feb of 07. Since mid Dec I've done about 420 hrs of training total as of this week.
The coach REALLY helps!

Mine was really a series of progression. My first 2 years I did only sprints. Next year added Oly's. Next year was HIM's. At that point I decided to do an IM. However, I did another year of HIM's although I followed an IM training plan - mainly to see if I could put in the required time needed and balance family, work etc...
Then did IMWI in '06.

So the online coaching and plans are good to go with? That was another one of my lingering questions.

I did an OLY and a HIM last year, which was my first in tri. I followed the HIM plan on Trifuel. I had a solid marathon background and thought I could doing the HIM after how I felt in the OLY. I was able to finish the HIM and was pretty happy with my performance.
I decided I would like to give an IM a try so I signed up for Chesapeakeman. I am following the plan on Trifuel. It is a 36 week program that I was able to complete without taking a lot of time away from my wife and kids. Time management and a supportive spouse is obviously a must.
The time management is definitely what I'm trying to figure out. I figure I've got about 3 years til I'll end up having kids lol...

From the day you decided to do an IM, how long did you take to train for it? Kinda wanting to find an average/idea of how long to give myself once I get a decent base going after this winter.
Sorry if I repeated a previous post.
Thanks for any/all advice and responses.
