Morning Swim...Uh I'm Tired
*raises hand* Yup!
Right there with ya! I'm swimming at 05:45 on Monday (!!!) and Friday. It's a pain sometimes. I just have some juice when I get up and get over it once I go SPLASH! Like today ( Friday) get up real early, then swim, then work, then drive back from the base to my home, then got to ride my bike 2+ hours  sometimes that sucks.

It ain't much, if it ain't Dutch!!
I've been swimming in the morning for about a year now, and that first shock of cold water never gets any more gentle!
But a long day at the office never steals my pool time, and the pool is less crowded in the mornings.
I also find that after a brief warm up I swim better than in the evenings because I'm not tired from work (not that I'm a piano mover or anything).
I did it for 13 years. Often times 6 days a week. I quit, though. I think most swimmers do. It doesn't get easier, but it does become habit, which almost like being easier.

Not fast enough.
I like early a.m. swims - tho my swim w/o's are the ones that bounce around the most for me with schedule juggling - so I get about 1/2 my swims in early morning.

I try to get my swims in the morning. It's hard to get the motivation to get into the water, but once there, I find I have more energy for my workout and a better start for my day.
I would say I swim in the morning 75% of the time. It's really, like anything else, a habit to get into...

I agree with you all. It IS hard. Try not to go there. The best is liying on the aerobars for an hour each day commuting to work in the quiet of the morning. Usually takes about 5km to wake up but at least I can sleep on the bike. Yes, I do close the eyes for a while :-P Gotta agree it is tough to swim in the a.m. Cudos to you. I avoid it like the plague though.

Swim, bike, run, weights it doesn't matter to me, I hate waking up and working out first thing. I've tried for years it just doesn't agree with me.

Anybody else swim in the morning? Just wondering if there are any others who do the morning swim thing and how it works for you?
I usually swim at 5:30 although if I have time I go at 6:45. I love it. In the winter when it is cold out it's hard to swing out of bed and head for the pool but running across the cold deck and then jumping in that warm water (we swim outdoors all year) beats running in the cold and dark any day. In the summer I like enjoying the early sunrise.
My only problem is that I am so hungry all morning. I just feel like gnawing my arm off.

I'm up at 4:30 am M-W-F. I sleep in until 6am on T-Th-S-S.
I like getting in the pool ahead of the knoodlers.
I am a morning guy --up on my own just about everyday at 5am. I am usually at the pool between 530-600a and about 95% of the time, love the swim. In fact, I am most "religious" about the swim training (and need to improve on the run), in part because swimming is still "new" to me since I have only been swimming for 3 years. Running in the morning is great too (I especially like a swim/run workout in the a.m.)
As for evening workouts --ugh, I find that to be the worst --I'm too tired after being up from 5am and working full day (and sometimes meetings in the evening), plus family, etc., to muster the energy to go workout.
Just my .02 :)

What's a "knoodler"? OMG, there might be one at my pool! I might need to take action!

Typo meant "Noodlers" generally the older folk who hang on the pool noodles and don't workout just move slowly or float in the water.
I was wondering about your" Knoodler" problem! "Knoodle" is another term for...well...sex.
I'm a morning person too...up at five but have to be on the road at 6:15..the school day for me starts at 7...most of the year both my workouts come in the afternoon...I just can't do 4. I tried...really I did...

Anybody else swim in the morning? The wife and I are trying to switch our swim time from evening to morning because of some scheduling problems and I've found it difficult to get my body to swim that early. I show up at the pool still sleepy and shock my body with the cold water.
