I don't need to get faster, I just need to get older!
Those are some pretty good looking numbers! Your bike stats are VERY impressive!
Congrats, IronGirl!
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Nice job! No wonder I never saw you out on the course. You were back at the hotel having an beer, watching Sports Center by the time I got back from the bike. Once again, great job and congrats.

PR'ing across all 3 disciplines is awesome (22 seconds is close enough!)
Great preparation in training! And great job with your race execution!
Congrats again! :D

Thanks all! And here is the pic that really shows what this IM was all about to me:

(Why isn't posting an image working??? There isn't even an "insert image" button, even in the advanced reply. I can find it on other threads but not here...)
You are AWESOME, IRONMAN!!! Somehow I got on the computer at the right time to watch you cross the finish line...and you were wobbly...!!! 12:30 is super-star status in my book. CONGRATS to you and Mike...hope you have fun in Hawaii!! Maybe you'll be racing there next year ;)

Great Race! I realy enjoyed reading your race report. You mentioned the hotel was the perfet location - what hotel did you stay at?
We stayed at the Hyatt Recency that is right by 4th St Live (the finish area). It meant we had about a 1/2 mile walk to the expo/registration, and about a 3/4 mile walk to the swim practice and TA, an about a mile to the start. But especially with both of us racing it was great to have our room and shower right there!
Great race!
Soooo many PRs. Congratulations.
Awesome job! It was so cool to watch you cross the finish line online. And congrats to Mike, too!

Thanks for the hotel info kyillee- based on your postive race comments and others - I've signed up for IM KY 2008. Figure to make hotel reservations way in advance.
Best of luck!! I really loved that experience, and am tempted to do it again someday (although I really like doing new races).
Will it be your first IM?
Be ready for *lots* of rollers on the bike... and a HOT run :)

Did you get a discount for wearing your areo helmet at check-in?;)

I just did my first IM in the UK a couple weeks ago. I am returning to the US in several months after living abroad for a couple years so I figured I'd sign up for one "close" to home.

That's not check-in... that's just us getting the bikes ready, and me ready for some full-contact Trifueling! :)
Not sure whether I said congrats, but CONGRATS!!! Looks like a perfectly executed race to me. Have fun in Kona!
Thanks Sheila! Mike mentioned the other day that it might have been you that Rich was riding around with? Sorry I didn't get to meet you if so :) And thanks! I can't wait to experience that race's atmosphere!
Wow wow wow. This was an AWESOME race. I highly recommend it!My race report is super long (but does have pictures!) so I'm just going to link to my triblog for it: my Trifuel blog.
Oh, and Mike did awesome as well, and got a Kona slot, so next I'm going to HI!

Gee, the feedbacl I got was that the race was horrible. High temps.100+F no wetsuits, very hilly bike etc.
Very few people returning to do it again. Strange, isn't it?

The bike had rollers, true to the profile they posted -- nothing at all insane on it, and I'm not a biker! If you trained with some rollers (based on the profile they gave) I am of the opinion it wouldn't have been that surprising a course. Sure not easy, but who signs up for an Ironman hoping it will be easy?? The temp only ever got into the 90s. Yeah, no wetsuit, but that's not that big of a deal -- again, it was something we were warned of ahead of time, and the water was plenty warm without it. Kona doesn't have wetsuits, and I'm of the opinion that you should be able to swim with or without one as needed.
I know a number of people who said they'd do it again. Oddly, the only completely negative feedback I've seen on forums is from people who heard ahead of time the course and the date and decided it would be really hot and hard -- from all the people I know that raced and that I've read the race reports of there was almost all positive feedback. Sure, some had issues with the temperature, but that was something they could have trained to prepare for, and they accepted it as part of the day.
Thnaks kyillee ,
You have me convinced, will sign up next year.Gary
haha... but don't blame it on me if it is 100+ ;)
I just think it's sad how bad a rap this race got before it even had its first event, and then that it was too bad how many people are still writing it off (for reasons like WTC vs NASports, no wetsuit, etc). It was an awesome experience... and that finish line -- WOW!! Coming into 4th St Live and the covered area and the crowd going wild and their cheering echoing everywhere... ok now stop making me tear up!
