Ironman KY and CA Trifuelers
Mike rocked it! 32nd OA!
Life is short. Play hard and get dirty doing it.
Ya. 4th in age group. hopefully that's enough for a Kona slot. Assuming he wants to race again in a couple months ;)
Looks like Mike might have qualified for Kona, the initial number of spots projected for his age group was 5. It could change according to the number of starters, but hopefully it's good :)

what a way to come back after the accident in Vineman. Congrats to Mike and K > You deserve the PR girl!
Hopefully the rest finish soon!
Congrats to all those who raced today!! I just tried to check Ironmanlive.com, and I was getting other people when I entered the race numbers.
Way cool though, I feel even more motivated. Maybe an IM in 2-3 years if I can continue to improve.

Hyperactive Trifueler!!!! (I refuse to let the status go :p)
Thanks a bunch for the encouragement everybody.
My swim worked out just fine - 87 mins, considering I did six swims in training all year.
The bike was fun down to Osoyoos (67k in 1:52:00) BIG tail wind, but it was all uphill after that, stopped with cramps at the out and back at 100k took some salt and finished well - raced with Britt from Yellow Lake back to town. She's tough.
Paid for it on the walk.
Britt's hubby Antonio finished his first IM in good form yesterday.
I saw Larry (nakedb26.2) at the start of the run and at the finish. He finished about 20 mins ahead of me.
Met Libor at the finish line
Had dinner with Toni Sat eve.
Saw Vanjames Sat am on Main Street.
Report tomorrow with pix.

Thanks all for keeping an eye out for us. It was a tough race despite some hard conditions on the bike.

Congrats to all finishers at Canada. The conditions were pretty windy. It was a tough race. I had the pleasure of meeting Toni, Britt and her husband Antonio at the expo. Great group of folks. Toni did you sign up for next year?????
Dana, my wife was 7th in her age group and they just gave out 4 Kona slots. Darn! It just gets more difficult to get into that race...especially for women : (
I flew back home today. Upper 90's and very humid. The weather up there was just so comfortable.
Nice job everyone!
I got to see BBB finish and ended up sharing a hotel room with the very hospitable Britt and Tony. They wouldn't let me sleep in my car and I didn't put up much of a fight. :)
I did end up signing my life away! :D I'm so excited! It's all I can think about!
Tribro - What happened to Matt? Thought he was racing??
Rob - It was nice to meet you! Sorry your wife missed out on a slot. No roll downs?
The weather was great for race day. No real heat issues, just wind, good partial cloud cover. We only saw half of the number of racers we usually see in the med tent. I'd call it a very successful race day!
I can't wait to read all of the race reports too! Congrats to all!

What an awesome course. I had such a great time in the swim I ended up miscalculating how long I'd been in the water. Around 45 min. I was going to crank up my pace but by the time I got around to looking at my watch it was well past the hour mark!
The bike course was probably the best ride/course I've ever done. Never a dull moment, but neither was it one of those hellish courses designed to break your chain. The scenery was spectacular and the roads were silky smooth. The run course was pretty flat (thank god) and the support/aid stations/traffic control were all top notch.
I finished before my "slowest time I can accept" goal (sub 13 hrs), but I was really hoping for a 12:30 or less. Swim and bike went very well for me, but even the slightest food/drink/gel made me nauseas. Just try doing a marathon w/~500 calories and 16oz of fluid! I ended up pretty incoherent when it was all over...dehydrated, severe cramping, the usual stuff that's cured w/IV fluids and an hour on a stretcher.
My only complaint--$24.99 for a finisher shirt. WTF? It used to be that you had to earn one. But now it looks like anyone can buy the Tee if they want to bend over and take the $25 "captive audience" hit. Shameless. The M-Dot logo was something I used to view with reverence, but now I just see it as any other corporate logo.

Thanks all! I LOVED the IMKY course. Volunteers were awesome, bike was awesome (including meeting Nobody - Dennis - during it!). Run hurt like... well... a lot ;) But had awesome timing on seeing Mike during it, etc. I definitely recommend that one!! Full report, complete with pics, to follow at some point.
Yeah, Mike rocks. I'm lucky :) He didn't have the race he'd hoped for pre-Vineman-car-wreck as his leg is definitely not healed yet but was pleased considering. And yes, he took a Kona slot, so I get a vacation to HI!!
As for finisher gear: I was surprised no shirt at the end (it would have been nice if they saved either the hat or shirt we got at registration and made it into a finisher item at the finish line), but finisher gear is always for sale after (even at races that give a shirt). Just different designs on the sale stuff. The cool thing is that the merchandise people realized that people wanted finisher stuff they didn't have, and took special orders! Basically said anything that was embroidered they could add "finisher" and the date to if you wanted, so Mike and I went that route. I will have to post a pic of my cute white and pink finisher girly cut polo once I get it.

Rob, Sorry I didn't get to meet you. I enjoyed your St Croix report especially since it is on my to do list.
Kyilee, congratulations on the IMKY success. Looking forward to your pix.
I was too slow (15:13:40) to see Toni, Britt & Tony at the finish, but BBB and Andy were there for a pic and a hug :)
Note to self: must run faster to stay with the Trifuel crowd!
cheers,

PoC - Andy retrieved me from the medical tent after you crossed so I could congratulate you, but you were gone. I couldn't search for too long as I had to get back to the tent.
Congrats on your finish! Btw, at the start of the swim were you the one wading in for about 2-3 minutes while the washing machine took off?

First time IM !- if I knew how to change a flat I would have been sub 12:30. Oh well, gives me a reason to try again.
Thanks to all the Trifuelers out there. This is a great forum.
Congrats and thanks to Kylie. You don't know it but you gave me some advice on fixing my piriformis a long time ago. I would have never made it without you.

Hey Tim great job! I saw you are from Louisville.... must be kinda nice to have a hometown event :)
And congrats again to all you Canda and other KY folks! I thought of you while out there -- even though those of you at IMC got to sleep in more, I guess it just meant I was closer to done ;)

1:15 - 7:02 - 5:47 - 14:31:15 Had a mechanical prob on the bike and IT Band prob on the run. Race report coming soon. I kept looking for you Kylie on the run-figured you were pretty far ahead. Don't guess I ever saw you. Great job though to all of you.
-Johnie
Yeah I kept my eyes sorta open for trifuel gear, but never saw any. Did see Dennis (Nobody) on the bike and run for a second, though.
And good job though! What mech issue did you have?

And Kylie--it was great meeting you on the bike and the run, too. Congrats on your awesome finish. You left me in the dust on the run.
Congratulate Mike, too--finishing 32nd....****--when is he turning pro?
Greatness is only achieved by those who perpetually raise the expectations of themselves to the point where it ruins their life.
He's too old ;) Actually, he used to be a pro (after college and before grad school). He did qualify for Kona as a pro, too... but living on the Eastern side of Canada it was too $$ to actually go.
Miles of Life --- Powered by MarkyV
Umm, all the pros that are winning now are in their 30's so I have a feeling that he's not too old and could still do it..... if he wanted to, that is.

Yeah... I just make fun of him for the old part sometimes. He just doesn't really have time with his job and such.
