Tri One O One series is history...
I called this from Day 1 and I am glad to see this series go away. There are so many great events out there that run perfectly year after year yet NEVER get any coverage. Lets stop trying to make up new events and start supporting all of the great ones that already exist!!
Team Planet X Tyros

Interesting - thought that they got a decent Pro turn out... but I had no plans to do one.

The Tri-America distance race in our area also got cancelled (similar concept - halfway between an Oly and a HIM in distance). Real bummer since it would've been nice to have a local race for once. I think race directors these days expect big turnouts in the first year of a race and if not, it gets cancelled.

I'm actually bummed because I was planning on heading to Cali next June for some 101 racing and a tour of wine country! Now what will I do???

Have we heard why? Did they have registration numbers that low or were they having logistical problems? I still haven't seen an explanation anywhere.

I heard with the Woodlands a large part was logistical...not being able to get a race course approved. There may have been other reasons as well, but that is one of the local ones going around.

See this to get my thoughts. I say it was money, not course issues. The numbers are just ugly.

seemed like a cool idea. was playing w/ the idea of doing the halifax race next year but doesn't look like it was meant to be.

Skip the racing, and come for the wine anyway!!! We really do have great wine here. :)

If you're talking about Vineman then do it! That bike course is gorgeous - one of my favorite places to ride.

Star -- Vineman will still be there! Perhaps Mike and I will do it again. Although he hasn't ever had a good race there and maybe we should just accept it and move on.
I'm sorry to see the series go. I was signed up for Woodlands and really looking forward to it (not to mention also seeing Jer again, and a bunch of tri girls I know from other online tri stuff). Besides, competition is always good (for the race market).

Yeah, I bet you're bummed...wasn't that going to be your last big race of the season? Anway, I'm looking into the Vineman and the Napa Valley Vintage Half-Ironman (ever heard of it?) :p

I'm a bit bummed, but after how much I pushed it at IM KY, and with going to KONA (to cheer for Mike, but still more travel and time off, etc) it is actually ok.
I have heard of the Napa Valley Vintage Half, but haven't heard much about it :)

It appears that the new and innovative Triathlon One O One Series, which was announced last year and had four scheduled races in 2007, has been cancelled indefinitely as stated on their website. It appears that there are no plans to continue the Triathlon One O One series in 2008. The Triathlon One O One Series tried to build a new niche in the long distance triathlon market with a race that totaled 101 miles, or roughly 3/4 of an iron-distance race. The initial roll-out only included races in North America but the plans were to expand the series internationally. Only two of the four scheduled events to take place this year actually became a reality, Bradenton and Clear Lake.

It's sad to see something like this happen.
