As my first tri season is heading into its peak stage, I'm looking ahead to next season. I have been saving up and am contemplating building up a tri-specific bike over the winter to use next year. Does anyone know of a website that I could use as a guide (ie what parts to put on in what order, what tools I will need, so on and so forth). I really want to do this for many reasons: so I can spec it exactly how I want, save cost of someone else doing it, and develop a good "bond" with my bike. But having no experience with cycling before this year, do I have the knowledge to accomplish this project? Thanks in advance to answers to both questions.

I used Park tools handy online guide to put together my Kuota. General tips: grease the seat tube, head tube, and bottom bracket when installing.

A good site for how to do maintenance/building is:

parktool.com

Go to the repair section and it tells you what you need to do on each section of the bike and it has good pictures and in depth descriptions. It also tells you all the tools that you need to accomplish the task. They try to tell you to use their tools, but you can use cheaper non -ame brand tools and they are typically just as good.

To get a better understanding or components, I would recommend just going to Shimano or Campy's websites and doing the research on what each component and component group is. Depending on what your level of bike knowledge is, a little reasearch can go along way. I started with no knowledge and after about a week of research, I had a good understanding of what everything was.

Park Tool is the way to go. And if there are any specific questions you hit on, there are plenty of folks around Trifuel to help out.
