Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
Way to go. That is great that she beat here goal by almost 10 minutes. If she has another race that she excited about, she is hooked.
She did great - obviously she is pretty happy about it too! :D
Ya, she's addicted - now you have to share the triathlon budget!

Hey Slowswimr,
The Tri we did was one of the "Tri the Parks" series here in Georgia. If you're unfamiliar they are mostly sprints at 6 of the state parks in Georgia. They do a great job of running them and are a lot of fun. My wife did the one in Jackson, Ga at High Falls State Park.
Yes, we're both doing the sprint in Peachtree City. There expecting 1000 triathletes. Again it's a great event and should be fun! Will you be there?
Apons
Yes, I'll be there. I messed up my training and probably won't finish high but I plan to have fun.
I have heard about the series. Sounds like a very hilly course. Are they? I'm from Florida and if I'm going to do the series next year, I need to know if its road bike or mountain bike.
Any place called High Falls has to be tough! I always assume the swim to be flat, and I can handle hilly runs, but I'd have to train for hills on my bike.
Man! I wanted to do High Falls, but they closed registration earlier than I thought. (I almost always register at the last minute. :D) How was it?

Please tell me the secret to getting a wife to do a Tri! My wife has a box of medals and trophies from road races, and she was good enough to go to state in cross country her senior year of high school.
I just did my first Tri last week, so I'm thinking if I do 3 or 4 next summer, that will show her that I'm a little more serious about it, and then I can work her into the plan.
I'm curious how others got their spouses involved.
I always assume the swim to be flat
Could you imagine? "New for 2008, IM will now have the first leg going upstream in white water!"
Wow that is great, I want to look that good next week at my 1st
My husband's so jealous, I'll get him by next year
I talked my fiancee' into doing the Danskin in September at Sandy Hook NJ. I can't wait for it.:D

I was only half joking. I did the Turtle Crawl (Oly) on Jekyll Island. It was 6'-8' swells in the Atlantic. I felt like the boat in "Perfect Storm".
I'd take a breath, go to put my face down in the water and there wasn't any! Then take a stroke and turn my head to breathe and I'm several feet underwater. I had to wait to bob back up.
^I did an OWS in Key West a few months ago that started out like that. I puked everywhere! :D

Always makes for a great race. In my race, when we turned to swim back to shore, it was body surfing gone wild. I didn't have to swim forward the waves did that and I was moving very fast, but I had to fight to stay at the surface for air. The rip kapt trying to pull me to the bottom.
My next Tri is a lake swim so I expect calm waters.

I did High Falls as my first race in 2003 (I think) and I was immediately hooked. I'm also registered fot the PTC tri - I did it last year and thought that it was one of the better local races.

Mine agreed, but we never signed up due to my injuries. In my case it was simply a matter of her coming to enough races that she figured she ough to do one.
Then again, she's still faster than me in the pool and on the bike...she's got a bit of incentive now that I'm finally catching her ;)

Hi everyone,
I hope you don't mind but I have to do a little bragging today. My wife finished her first ever sprint triathlon on Saturday! Her time was 1:51. Not blistering but she really tried hard. Her goal was to finish under 2 hours and she did. Here she is coming across the finish line.

She is not a swimmer or biker or runner but has trained religiously over the past two months. I'm not sure yet if she's as addicted to the sport as I am but we'll see. She has another race on Sept 8th and she's really excited about it. Her ultimate goal is to lose a few extra LBS's but I think she's slowly getting sucked into the abyss of triathlons.....which is good!
Hey Trigator notice the hat???? Go Gators!!!!
Again I'm really proud!!! Thanks
